This is a terribly indulgent post that will most likely only be of interest to hard core Poppette fans and close friends and family... but I just can't help myself because i'm so darn proud of her!!!!
Last night she started to say "chaussures" [shoes]... it sounds more like 'shur shuur' for now but I am totally gobsmacked at her picking such a patently difficult word to pronounce... out of all the things she could have chosen to say.
Fun!! Go ahead and indulge in your extraordinary little girl :) You just never know what they're going to say!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate... it's so exciting isn't it...I'd love to know more about what goes on in their little heads
Deletethat's great! an unrelated question, have you read any books on bringing up bilingual children that you would recommend? I'm looking for something which might inspire me with some more games and language based activities - I see the list of books on Amazon but I don't really know if any of them are worth the money.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Hi there...one book with some activity ideas in (and written by someone using the French/ English language pair) is Bilingual By Choice by Virginie Raguenaud. I enjoyed the book although found it rather geared towards the American market ... I would love to find an equivalent written by a Brit :-)
DeleteThat sounds great! Of course you should be proud! We're a French-Finnish family living in Finland and I remember well those first words and how it felt. Your blog looks great, I found it as I did a google alert on bilingualism (studying the subject and everything written about it is my "pêché mignon" :-), I will definitely be back! In the meantime, if you're on facebook feel free to look up my page that aims at gathering resouces for multilingual families. I should probably set up another one just for French alone :-)
